🎉 Today is an important day for our community

Four years ago, two people with a simple idea met in Basel:
to create a space where Spanish culture could be celebrated,
shared and lived as a community.

We didn’t start by asking
“how do we organize an event?”
but rather
“why do we need this?”

The answer was clear:
because culture connects.
In a city as diverse as Basel, we need bridges between communities.
The best way to integrate is not to forget where you come from,
but to share it with those around you.

🌟 What drives us

We believe in a more connected, more intercultural, more vibrant Basel.

We believe that culture is not a luxury, but a right. That gastronomy,
music and traditions are universal languages. When you share a paella,
dance to the rhythm of Catalan rumba, or simply converse in your
mother tongue in a welcoming space, you are building community.

That’s why we organize the
Fiesta Española in Basel: not only to celebrate Spain,
but to celebrate what unites us when we open ourselves to others.

📢 Today we take a step forward

After four editions that gathered more than
500 people in 2025, with the support of
8 committed sponsors and dozens of passionate volunteers,
we have made an important decision:

Today we formally establish ourselves as an association:
“Amigos de la Fiesta Española en Basel”.

Why do we do it?

We don’t do it for bureaucracy. We do it in line with our values.

✅ For transparency: Because those who trust us — sponsors,
collaborators, attendees — deserve a clear structure, auditable accounts, and professional management.

✅ For autonomy: After four years under the umbrella of other
organizations, we need freedom to grow, decide and evolve according to our community’s needs.

✅ For sustainability: Because we want this not to be an annual event,
but a permanent cultural movement that transcends its founders.

✅ For the general interest: Because we don’t work for ourselves.
We work for and with the Spanish-speaking community and Basel society as a whole.

🤝 An open invitation

Becoming an association is not the end of a journey.
It is the beginning of a new one.

On September 5, 2026, we will celebrate our
5th anniversary, and we want it to be different.
Bigger. More inclusive. More impactful.

But we can’t do it alone.
